No-Limit Texas Holdem Betting Structures

No-limit Texas holdem is fast becoming a favorite poker variant among poker aficionados. It is popular especially in poker tournaments. It's fast and easy and mostly a game of betting strategies. Hence, we ought to be familiar with its betting structures.

First are the blind bets. These are compulsory or forced bets made by the first two players left of the dealer. The first is called the small blind and next is the big blind. The small blind is always half the amount of the big blind in no-limit Texas holdem poker. The big blind bet amount is the minimum at the table. The blinds bets are antes that the first and second players (early players) need to make.

In tournaments the blinds bets increase from time to time. In some no-limit Texas holdem cases the small blind is always placed at $10 while the big blind is at $15. When there are only two players that remain in the hand special rules apply. This situation is sometimes called "head-to-head" poker or more popularly known as "heads-up" poker. Here, the dealer places the small blind and the opponent places the big blind. In this no-limit Texas holdem variant, the dealer acts first on pre-flop play then acts last the rest of the game.

In no-limit Texas holdem betting is the main thrill. Unlike in limit poker where the bets are uniform pre-flop and on the flop (small bets are required for all players) and for the turn and river plays the bets should be uniformly big bets (or double the small bets). There's an option to place all our chips from our stack as our "all-in" bet when we're playing no-limit Texas holdem at any time during our play. This can make the game end fast.

For raises and re-raises, here is the no-limit Texas holdem betting structure. A re-raise must at least be equal the previous raise. If there's $2 for the big blind and a bet of $6 a raise must be $6 at least. If someone makes an all-in raise or re-raise not the same in amount as the previous bet amount the first raiser is barred from re-raising another time, especially when a call was made prior the re-raise.

These basic betting methods form part of no-limit Texas holdem betting structures. If we want to win at Texas holdem more often we have to study the betting structure behind the game because profitability in no-limit Texas holdem is founded on betting strategies.
